The Minardi PS05 for the 2005 F1 season was not ready before the San Marino GP in Imola. Equipped with the 2998cc Cosworth V10 TJ2005 type engine, the PS05 was a fundamentally healthy car, fairly reliable but still far from the top teams, even if in some episodes it proved to be quite fast (in Monza the Minardi lapped 1”5 behind Ferrari). Driven by Patrick Friesacher, Robert Doornbos and Christijan Albers, the Minardi scored 7 points in the championship and a 5th place with Albers as a best result, in the United States GP at mid-season.
