After twenty years of absence, Mercedes returned to the four-seater convertible market with the elegant A124, presented in 1987. The first version, the 300CE-24 with 220 horsepower engine, was presented in Frankfurt in 1991. Over the years later other engines were introduced, until 1997, when the CLK (derived from the C-Class W202 platform) replaced the A124.
