Keith Wiggins, head of Pacific Racing, had won in all the categories in which his team had participated: F. Ford 1600, Formula Ford 2000, Formula 3, Formula 3000. In 1992 Pacific announced its intention to join F. 1. Having signed an agreement for the supply of Ilmor engines, the team used for 1994 the chassis built by Reynard, which had never raced. The Pacific-Ilmor were probably the worst cars of the 1994 F1 season, often unqualified and always far from acceptable performance. The pilots were Paul Belmondo and Bertrand Gachot.
