At the 1999 Geneva Motor Show, Porsche presented the first most extreme versions of the new 996 generation of the 911: the GT3, in the standard configuration, ClubSport and Supercup for the monomake series. All three were equipped with the 3.6-liter engine. The 996 range was getting richer and more and in September 1999, the new Turbo 996 with 3.6-liter engine brought to 420 horsepower, replaced the 993.
