The first version of the Fiesta XR2 was released in 1981. Produced until 1983, it gave way in March 1984 to the second series, which had the bodywork of the restyling. Thanks to the CVH engine, the horsepower went from 84 to 96, but the chassis and suspension remained those of the XR2 I-series, not very suitable for a truly sporty driving. The XR2 MkII went out of production in 1989 and today remains for collectors a rarer piece of the "usual" Golf GTI.
