Soon after the presentation of the Range Stormer concept at the 2004 Detroit Motor Show, Land Rover announced the imminent launch of a significantly revamped and improved new generation Discovery. With square lines, this innovative vehicle was based on a self-supporting body with an integrated chassis, which ensured good rigidity and good dynamic characteristics. Under the hood, there were several novelties: a V6 diesel engine with a displacement of 2.7 liters born from a collaboration with Ford (then owner of Land Rover) and the French group PSA. This refined and modern block was found in other vehicles of these groups: Jaguar S-Type, XF and XJ, Citroen C5 and C6, Peugeot 407 and 607, Ford Territory and so on. Production of Discovery 3 ceased in 2009.
