At the Essen Motor Show on November 27, 2003, Audi presented the car that would mark the return of the Ingolstadt brand to the DTM. It was the A4 R11, which debuted in Hockenheim on April 18, 2004, winning five races over the 2004 and 2005 seasons. The later version, the R12, was fielded in 2005 and 2006. Further developments followed: the R12 Plus (2006- 2007), the R13 (2007), the R14 (from 2008 to 2011) and the R14 plus (2009-2011). Starting in 2012, Audi replaced the A4 with the A5 model in the DTM.
