After the experience of the GP Type A of 1931, Vittorio Jano presented the Type B Grand Prix single-seater, named (but never officially) P3. The frame was strictly derived from that of the Type A, but with a reduced wheelbase and a weight of 700 kg. The engine was a 2654cc in-line 8-cylinder, with a power of 215 horsepower. The Type B debut was at the 1932 Italian GP, won by Nuvolari. The car continued to reap successes and in 1933, after Alfa's retirement from racing, the P3s were sold to Scuderia Ferrari, which had repeatedly reported the inadequacy of the 8C 2300 Monza.

RIO-MODELS

Rio, based in Cernobbio, Italy, was founded by Reno, Nilo and Diego Tattarletti in 1962. The 1:43 scale die-cast Rio models were among the first model cars designed as collector's items. Initially all Rio models reproduced cars from the pioneering era up to the 1940s, but from the mid-1980s post-war cars were also added to the range. In 2004 Rio was taken over by M4, the manufacturer of the Art Model and Best models. In the following years, re-editions and variations on the models that had been in production for many decades were introduced.
