In 1980 the Alfetta GT range received a substantial renewal which also led to the commercialization of a version with a 6-cylinder 2500cc engine of the Alfa 6. Named GTV6, this particular configuration came with a front hood with a bulge to accommodate the larger engine. The GTV6 also had an excellent sports career and achieved many successes, with four titles in the European Touring Championship from 1982 to 1985. The car also shone in various national championships in Italy, Germany, Belgium but also in France and in the UK, where the regulations were slightly different from those of the FIA.
