The return of the Jaguar was one of the main themes of the 1986 Le Mans 24 Hours, but Porsche was still the main protagonist of the race. Beaten the previous year by the Joest team, the Works team took the victory, with only the surviving 962C, driven by Bell, Holbert and Stuck, which preceded the Brun’s 962C (Larrauri / Pareja / Gouhier). Porsche thus obtained its sixth consecutive victory at Le Mans, and the series would continue with the 1987 edition.
