For the 1970 F.1 season, the Matra team chose the path of greatest possible independence from non-French suppliers; this was due to the commercial agreements with Simca, whose owner, Chrysler Europe, had agreed to market Matra road cars. Georges Martin reworked the V12 engine, seeking greater robustness and reliability. Boyer's new car, called MS120, was characterized by an angular and rather original line. From an aerodynamic point of view the MS120 proved to be quite effective even if the chassis was not rigid enough. Overall, the results in the F.1 world championship were decent, with a final sixth place in the constructors' standings.
