Camoradi International managed by Lucky Casner acquired a Lotus 18 and a Cooper T53 for the 1961 Formula 1 season, both equipped with the Mark I version of the 4-cylinder Climax. The Lotus was destined for Masten Gregory, while the Cooper was reserved for Ian Burgess. However, after Gregory switched to the UDT-Laystall team, Burgess used the Cooper, with which he achieved a 14th place at the German GP. A week later the Camoradi Scuderia ceased operations following the accident at the 4 Hours of Pescara in which Casner was injured.
