In February 1966 the Fiat 1100R was born ("R" for "renewed"); in fact this new 1100 had several changes compared to the previous versions, both as mechanics and as bodywork. The engine, type 103P000, had a displacement of 1089cc with a power of 48 horsepower. Modifications were made to the manifolds, carburetors and distribution to increase power without increasing displacement. The car was also available in a family configuration and remained in production until 1969.
