After the 2007 title obtained by Kimi Raikkonen, Ferrari prepared to face the 2008 season with well-founded hopes. The car, the F2008, remained competitive throughout the season. Raikkonen, after two opening wins (Malaysia and Spain), left his team-mate Felipe Massa the lead of the team. The Brazilian lost the title at the last Grand Prix, in Brazil: despite winning, he had to give up the title to Hamilton, who collected those points he needed by finishing fifth. In 2008 Massa was first on six occasions (Bahrain, Turkey, France, Valencia, Belgium and, indeed, Brazil), contributing decisively to Ferrari's conquest of the constructors' title.
