Like its big rival Ford Escort, the Opel Kadett also radically changed its appearance at the turn of the seventies. In fact, in 1979 the new D series was presented, which featured a two-volume bodywork and was converted to front-wheel drive and transverse engine. Declined in the variants 2, 3, 5 doors and also SW, the Kadett offered numerous engines from the 53 horsepower 1.2N to the 90 horsepower 1.6S. The GTE was the sports variant, with a 115hp 1.8, in production since March 1983. It was a solid car, reliable even if perhaps not exciting. The Kadett D went out of production in 1984.
