Presented at the 1976 Geneva Motor Show together with the sedan configuration, the Lancia Gamma coupé was part of the tradition of cars with decidedly horizontal features, as the Fiat 130 had been. The Pininfarina designers conceived a side line characterized by a deep groove that went from front to tail.
