A coupe derived from a roadster is a rather rare fact: however, it was what BMW decided when it approved the production of the Z3 Coupé on the basis of the spyder. Designed by the BMW style center under the direction of Chris Bangle, the Z3 Coupe went into production in September 1997. It was available with various engines. The M versions, with 3201-3152-3246cc engines were particularly sought after. The Coupé went out of production in June 2002.
