Introduced in September 1956, the Austin A35 derived directly from the A30 produced since 1952), the first model produced with a series A engine, a 4-cylinder 800cc with overhead valve timing. The aesthetic feature of the A35 was a very compact 3-volume line for a length of 3.47 m (a 4-door body was also available). The grille was in the shape of a horseshoe, painted in the color of the body, with only a chrome frame. The unique appearance of the A35 earned it a role in the 1981 animated film The Great Muppet Caper and in the 2005 film Wallace & Gromit. Production ended in 1962.
