In March 1966 the Fiat 124 was presented, a completely new 5-seater sedan, on which a brand new 1197cc 4-cylinder engine (type 124.A.000) was mounted. The power was 60hp at 5600rpm. The 124 replaced the 1300/1500 which had been presented in 1961. In November 1966 the family version of the 124 also made its debut at the Turin Motor Show. In 1968 the Special version was introduced, with a 1438cc engine and 70hp power at 5400 rpm ( 124.B2.000). A restyling was made on the 124 range in 1970, the normal and the Special versions coming with the same engine. A third version, the Special T, was introduced, with the 1438cc engine now giving 80cv at 5800 rpm (type 124.AC.300). The Fiat 124 range was discontinued in 1974.
