Ferrari faced the first part of the 1983 F1 season with a modified version of the 1982 126 C2, called the 126 C2B. The new 126 C3 made its debut at the British GP. Equipped with the 1500cc turbocharged V6 (600 horsepower at 10500 rpm) the car proved to be very competitive, allowing Arnoux to win the German and the Dutch GP. Then Ferrari's performance suffered a decline and only Prost with Renault and Piquet with Brabham-BMW remained in contention for the drivers' title. However, Ferrari took the constructors' title, thanks to the results of Arnoux and Tambay.
