For the 1992 Formula 1 season, Ferrari had to face the concurrence of the Williams team, whose cars could boast a very efficient active suspension system. Jean-Claude Migeot conceived a very aerodynamically sophisticated car, that was supposed to bring much efficiency. Named the F92A, the new Ferrari car never worked properly and both drivers, Jean Alesi and Ivan Capelli always struggled to clinch acceptable results during the season. Alesi was third in Spain and in Canada, which was all Ferrari had to be content with. The F92A was further modified in the last part of the season, becoming the F92AT, while Ivan Capelli was substituted by Nicola Larini in the last two races. The F92A is nevertheless an interesting racing car and very popular amongst Formula 1 enthusiasts.
