Presented in September 1996, the 993 Carrera S was a version that took up the bodywork of the Turbo, without the rear wing. The appearance was similar to that of the Carrera 4S but was distinguished by a spoiler grille divided into two parts. The engine was the type M64 / 21, 3600cc and 285hp. For the US market (engine type M64 / 23) the power was 282hp. The Carrera S remained in production until 1998.
