Model 686 was one of the most famous in the history of Hotchkiss, a brand founded in 1870 for the manufacture of armaments and since 1903 engaged in automotive production. The 686 was presented in 1936 and remained in production until 1954 with 2-door sports, 4-door sedan, limousine and 4-seater cabriolet bodies. Also used in competition (remember its victories at the Monte Carlo Rally of 1949 and 1950), the 686 was renamed 2050 from 1950, with the same engine but with a newly designed bodywork à la Talbot GS.
