The second series of the Scirocco, presented in 1981, did not rest on the platform of the Golf II but was derived from the first series Scirocco, produced from 1974 to 1981. The line corresponded to the aesthetic canons of the time and the car was distinguished by excellent quality of construction and high-level finishes. From the point of view of the engines, it cannot be said that the Scirocco was a true sports car: the most powerful engine, that of the 16-valve 1.6, did not exceed 139hp. The four cylinders ranged from 60 to 112 horsepower. The Scirocco II series went out of production in 1992.
