The 250S winner with Giovanni Bracco and Alfonso Rolfo at the 1952 Mille Miglia and also entered in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Carrera Panamericana that year gave birth to a new family of Ferrari GTs, based on the 3-litre 12-cylinder engine . In March 1953, at the Geneva Motor Show, Pininfarina presented an exceptional car based on the chassis that had already been exhibited, with the 250S engine, at the 1952 Paris Motor Show. The new car, called 250MM (MM to commemorate the recent victories at the Mille Miglia), had an extremely innovative coupé bodywork. At the same time, Vignale presented an open version. The 250MM's competitive debut took place at the 1953 Giro di Sicilia. The car had a long career, also obtaining significant results in the following seasons.

The car chassis 0252MM was built at the beginning of 1953 and used for official photos and for some tests within Ferrari. It then had a sporting career, also taking part in the 1953 Mille Miglia. In 1955 the car was sold to Sweden and in 1957 it was destroyed after an accident with a truck.
