The Datsun 510 was a series of the Bluebird sold from 1968 to 1973, and labelled outside the U.S. and Canada as the 1600.The 510 engineering was inspired by contemporary European sedans, particularly the BMW 1600/2, including a SOHC engine, MacPherson strut suspension in front and independent in the back. The engine was promoted by Nissan USA president Yutaka Katayama, a design developed through Prince. Launched in October 1967, body styles included a two-door sedan, four-door sedan, five-door station wagon and two-door coupé.The 510 range became famous for Nissan's rallying successes outside Japan and gave momentum for greater Nissan sales in important countries.
