The new Daimler Sovereign available since 1969 were practically identical to the Jaguar XJ series. For the 12-cylinder version of this car, Bentley dusted off the name Double Six already used before the war. For the Double Six, the differences from the Jaguar were limited to a different shape of the grille. The second series cars, in production since 1973, kept the 5343cc and 265 horsepower V12 engine and took the Sovereign Double Six name. An extended wheelbase version was also available.
