For the Group 4 homologation of a version of the Porsche 924, Porsche built 400 units of the 924 Carrera GT in series, whose sports configuration was designed primarily for rallying but also for the track. The 924 Carrera GT weighed 150 kg less than the standard 924 Turbo. The aerodynamics had been completely revised. The track and wider wheels had forced the fenders to bulge. The two-liter engine gave 210 horsepower in the street version. The Carrera GT ended its career in December 1980 after having been produced in just over 400 units.
