In 1971, engineer Mike Parkes modified one of the Ferrari 512Ms (chassis 1048) on behalf of Scuderia Filipinetti. Renamed the 512F, this car had a narrower windshield which allowed for greater ventilation of the side radiators. The 512F debuted at the 1971 24 Hours of Le Mans with Parkes and Pescarolo and was also seen in Can-Am races in 1972 and 1973.
