The Ferrari 250 GTO chassis 3647GT was the first car of the second series of 1962 with new body details that would be retained until the first examples of 1963, including a larger radiator air intake and round brake air intakes . After being destroyed at the Tourist Trophy at Goodwood in 1962 with John Surtees at the wheel, the car was rebuilt but at the same event the following year Tommy Hitchcock had another disastrous accident which required a second rebuild. The racing career of the 3647GT continued until 1966.
