Waiting for the B190, the Benetton team faced the 1990 season with the B189B, an updated version of the aerodynamics and bottom of the 1989 single-seater. With the B189B, Nelson Piquet got a fourth place in the US GP and a sixth in Brazil, while Nannini was 11th in the USA and 10th in Brazil. Starting from the San Marino GP in Imola, the team fielded the B190.
