Irishman Eddie Jordan’s team, long a star in F.3 and F.3000, made its Formula 1 debut in 1991 by securing the supply of the competitive Ford HB Series IV engine. The 191 was a very effective single-seater with great skills especially in fast corners. The debut year was positive and the team finished fifth among the constructors with 13 points. Several drivers took turns driving: De Cesaris, Gachot, Zanardi, Moreno, but the 191 is best known for being Michael Schumacher's F1 debut car at the Belgian GP in Spa. After that first brilliant exit, Benetton managed to steal Schumacher from Jordan. The best-placed Jordan driver in the championship was De Cesaris, ninth with 10 points and twice fourth (Canada and Mexico).
