In September 1980, the third series of the Ford Escort was presented. Total revolution: rear-wheel drive became front, new rear suspension architecture with independent wheels, new CVH-type engine and two-and-a-half volume line. If the sports versions deserve a separate discussion, the Escorts of the III series (and of the IV, after the restyling of 1986) were cars that were not lacking in interest. The more luxurious versions were branded Ghia. The Escort III / IV series went out of production in 1990.
