BMW's E30 convertible range was launched in 1985. After the arrival of the M3 sedan, BMW also decided to market an open version and in 1988 the M3 Cabriolet was presented. Like the sedan version, the M3 convertible was equipped with the 2302cc M5 Sport type S14B23 engine, which produced 195 to 215 horsepower depending on the catalytic converter installed. There is news of a specimen that came directly from the factory with the 220 horsepower catalyst-free engine of the Evo-II sedan. The M3 Cabriolet remained in production until 1991.
