At the time it was a fairly fashionable car: the 1980s Ford Escort Cabriolet had an elegant line despite the presence of the safety roll cage. Presented in 1983 in the MkIII series, the Escort Cabrio had a behavior that was anything but sporty: chassis not very rigid, rough road holding, not very elastic engines. The rare basic 1400cc of only 75 horsepower was already capable of putting the chassis and suspension in trouble. The 105 / 108cv 1.6i, however, was slightly more elastic; as finishes, the XR3i had something more, such as the standard electric soft top starting from May 1988. There were also special series that are now rare, such as the Tennis (with Recaro seats) or the Hawaii (leather interior). The Escort Cabrio MkIII and MkIV went out of production in 1990.
