In 1972 the Chevron B21 in spyder configuration was used in the 2-liter European Championship, used by important teams such as the Red Rose Racing / Tergal team for Juncadella, Bosch and Hine and the Canon Camera team for John Burton and Bob Wollek. The engines were mostly Ford Cosworth, but Chevrolet Vega and BMW engines were also used. Some units were updated for 1973 with elements of the new B23, thus taking the name B21 / 23.
