In July 1967, the Camionnette version of the 404 (type U8) was presented, equipped with the XB5 petrol engine or XD88 diesel engine. Available in closed or pick-up version, it replaced the 403 U8. In September 1972 the new 404 U10 and U10D were introduced, with increased payload (up to 1000kg). In September 1973 the UXD engine replaced the XD88 diesel. The production of the truck stopped in France in June 1979, with the presentation of the 504 U. The 404 Camionnette continued to be produced in the rest of the world until 1988.
