The first Clio Sport V6 was presented in 1998 at the Paris Motor Show. Taking up the spirit of the Renault 5 Turbo, the Clio Sport V6 24v featured a centrally positioned 226hp 3000cc 6-cylinder engine, which made the car very suitable, at least in theory, for racing. The series production was started in 1999 and ended in 2002 with 1647 units. Then a second series came from 2003 to 2005 with some aerodynamic developments and power stretched to 254 horsepower. The Clio V6 was also the protagonist of a spectacular monomake championship.
