A reasoned evolution of the 1973 BT42, the Brabham BT44 optimized the good ideas behind it, with more refined aerodynamics and redesigned suspension. The engine remained the reliable Cosworth V8. The official team had an excellent Formula 1 season in 1974. In 1975 the car was developed, taking the name BT44B, while other private teams used the BT44s. Among the drivers who brought the BT44 into the race were Carlos Reutemann and Carlos Pace.
