At the 1991 Geneva Motor Show, Alfa presented a futuristic concept car, traveling but in a unique example, called Proteo, after the divinity of Greek mythology from which it inherited the ability to change shape: coupé or spider, using a removable pavilion in two set off. The mechanics of the Proteo foreshadowed what in two years would equip the 164 Q4, with the V6 engine.
