С учётом НДС €69.95 The technical regulations of the 1956 24 Hours of Le Mans allowed the registration of prototypes with a displacement limited to 2500cc or cars with larger displacements but built in over fifty units. This effectively prevented Ferrari from registering the 860 Monza and 290 MM. In Maranello it was decided to mount the 2.5-liter 625 Formula 1 engine, suitably modified, on the 500 TR Touring. But the new 625LMs did not prove to be competitive with the 3400cc Jaguar Ds (admitted because the British manufacturer had somehow managed to prove that he had built more than 50 examples of the car). The best of the 625LMs finished third with Olivier Gendebien and Maurice Trintignant.
