The first Alfa Romeo with a 6-cylinder engine, the G1, designed in 1921 under the direction of Giuseppe Merosi, was included in the line of Rolls Royce and other prestigious models. Imposing in its limousine or sportier version with Torpedo sport bodywork, the G1 was severely limited by the taxation affecting Italian luxury cars. Only 52 were produced, most of which were exported to Australia, which had a more advantageous tax regime. The G1 was produced until 1922.
