The coachbuilder Frua created some special bodies for BMW between the end of the sixties and the beginning of the seventies. At the 1969 Frankfurt Motor Show the 2800 GTS, based on the BMW 2800 CS, was presented. The car had a fastback coupé body with a tailgate. The rear lights were those of the 2500/2800 sedans on the market between 1968 and 1971. Exhibited again in Paris (October 1969), in Geneva (March 1970) and in Barcelona (April 1970), the 2800 GTS found its first owner in March 1971. BMW Mobile Tradition bought the car back in 2000 and had it restored between 2017 and 2019, presenting it to the press in March 2020.
