1973 was the last year in which Lola officially committed themselves to the Sports category, but the production of Group 5 (later Group 6) cars continued for private customers. In 1974 the T294 was presented, an evolution of the 1973 T292. The 2-liter European Championship was gradually losing interest: in 1974 the series was dominated by Alpine-Renault, with the T294 managing to finish fourth at Hockenheim and Jarama. In the following years the T294s (and its development T294S) continued their career with various teams and engines, also appearing several times at Le Mans in the 2000cc class.
