CULT-SCALE MODELS - FORD USA - MUSTANG INTERMECCANICA WAGON 1965

The Ford Mustang, released in 1964, was available in coupé, fastback coupe and convertible versions but many thought that the car would also adapt well to break or even pick-up configurations. A study for a break was conducted by Ford itself, which soon abandoned the project. Another independent study was developed by a young advertising agent who relied on a designer and the Intermeccanica body shop, who presented the car in 1965 after 11 months of work. The intent was to persuade Ford to officially put the car into production but the American manufacturer refused the project. Traces of the Intermeccanica Mustang were then lost.
