Of the GTI, the Golf IV, presented in 1998, retained the initials, but certainly not the spirit of a true sports car. This fourth series was equipped with a 1800cc turbo 20 valve 150 horsepower, then increased to 180, shared with the Audi A3 and TT. The V5 (150 then 170 horsepower) was undoubtedly more interesting with its atypical sound but it consumed more. Finally, the V6 Motion with its 204 horsepower could be considered a small GT but not a sports car. The Golf IV GTI was produced until 2003.
