Presented in 1999, the Fiat Strada was a pick-up derived from the Palio family. With the Strada, Fiat wanted to reiterate its attention to certain commercial market segments. Initially the Strada was available with 1200cc petrol and 1700cc turbodiesel engines; the 1700 was replaced in 2000 by a 1900cc naturally aspirated diesel. In 2003, the Strada underwent a restyling, which was also combined with a new 1900cc turbodiesel engine, which was flanked by the 1200cc petrol and the 1900 aspirated diesel. Further improvements and modifications (including the arrival of a 4-seater cabin) were introduced in subsequent years, with new engines and special fittings.
