GMP (Georgia Marketing & Promotions) was founded by brothers Mark and Jeff Palmer in Winder, Georgia, in 1992. The company began as a wholesale division of ACME Trading Company, but soon became a separate manufacturing and distribution entity of die-cast models made in China. The first model was a 1992 NASCAR Ford Taurus driven by Bill Elliott in 1:24 scale. In the late 1990s, GMP expanded its product line and introduced a number of 1:18 scale models, including classic American muscle cars, as well as other sports cars, race cars and dragsters. The range also included several 1:12 and 1:43 scale models, as well as 1:64 racing car transporters, car trailers, figures and accessories. GMP ceased production in 2011, but parent company ACME Trading Company is still in business selling 1:18 scale model cars.
