At the 1982 Long Beach Grand Prix Ferrari entered their 126 C2 with a special rear wing configuration with a bizarre-looking double arrangement. Gilles Villeneuve finished third after a consistent race but the stewards accepted Tyrrell's protest of Ferrari's two-part rear wing, aimed at circumventing the 110 cm limit on its width, and the Canadian driver was disqualified. Niki Lauda (McLaren) came first, preceding Keke Rosberg (Williams) and Riccardo Patrese (Brabham).
