After looking most competitive during the final part of the 1985, Williams, with the FW11, seemed to be the best team for the 1986 Formula 1 Championship, with both Nelson Piquet and Nigel Mansell being in the top-5 drivers rank. However the season turned out quite chaotically for the British team, with boss Frank Williams slowly (and only partially) recovering from a major road accident during the winter. The team didn’t seem to be able to control the fierce rivalry between its two driver, Prost at the wheel of the McLaren clinching the title at the end of a hectic season. That year Nelson Piquet scored an important win at his home GP in Brazil.
